The second-largest privately owned dealership group in the US, Hendrick Automotive sells new and used cars and light trucks under some 30 makes, from Acura to Volvo. It has a network of more than 85 dealerships in more than 12 states from the Carolinas to Texas to California. The company also offers financing, as well as automobile parts, accessories, maintenance, and body repair services at two dozen collision centers. Founder and chairman Rick Hendrick owns the company, which began in 1976 as a single dealership in Bennettsville, South Carolina. He also founded Hendrick Motorsports, a major force in NASCAR Sprint Cup auto racing.
